Matisyahu - "Sunshine" Review & Giveaway

This weekend instead of Saturday Song of the day I thought I would share a review and giveaway of the new Matisyahu album called Spark Seeker!

I love country music but also have a liking for all kinds of other music including reggae. I will be honest and say I haven't listened to Matisyahy that often and don't think I could name that tune off the top of my head if asked but I was very excited to give the new album a try.

Matisyahu first emerged on the international stage in 2005, he has established a reputation for following his muse - reggae to pop eclecticism of Light.

Now based with his family in Los Angeles, Matisyahu has yet another album - Spark Seeker, a bold new studio album that finds the one-of-a-kind vocalist and songwriter exploring uncharted territory with help from an expansive cast of collaborators. “My musical tastes are all over the board,” he says in reference to a record that mixes ancient traditional sounds with futuristic electro beats, rapping with singing, songs of the spirit with songs of the body. “And, besides, my music has never been about the outer garment. It’s about searching out inspiration wherever it lies. This album is about seeking that spark within.”

It really is a very interesting and exciting album you will really want to check out! I absolutely love the whole album but I think my two top favorite songs would be Crossroads and Buffalo Solider. All the songs are very catchy beat wise along with well written lyrics. This is a must if you love Matisyahu or reggae music.

You can pick up a copy on iTunes or your favorite music store. Keep on reading and you can enter to win a copy of Spark Seeker.

Saturday Song of the Day - Blown Away

This week my kids and I have been listening to a new song by Carrie Underwood called Blown Away. My son told me awhile back that he liked a song that goes "Daddy was a mean old mister". For the life of me I couldn't figure it out until recently, the line is in the beginning of the song.

What do you think of the new Carrie Underwood song?

Saturday Songs

This Saturday I wanted to share a new Gord Bamford song called Leaning On A Lonesome Song. The first time I heard this song the music stuck in my head until I could figure out who sang it. Such a beautiful song.

Daryl Hall - Laughing Down Crying Album Review/Giveaway

I am very excited to share some great news on Daryl Hall. You may remember him from Hall & Oates.

Daryl Hall has just released (September 27th,2011) a new album called Laughing Down Crying. This is Hall's fifth solo release. I believe everyone will love this album with Daryl Hall's iconic soulful vocals. This new collection is fresh and current all the while still maintaining his signature style and songwriting prowess. In the studio Daryl was joined by co-producers Greg Bieck and Paul Pesco to make this album. The late T-Bone Wolk was part of the making in "Lifetime of Love", "Wrong Side of History" and "Problem with You". This album is the last project that Hall and Wolk worked on together (they worked together for 30 years!).

After listening to this album I absolutely the song called "Talking to You (is like talking to myself). I love Daryl's voice, the beat of the music and the lyrics. All in all the whole CD is wonderful and Daryl Hall did a terrific job with his fifth solo release.

Did you know that Daryl Hall has a free monthly web based show called Live from Daryl's House? This has been live since 2007. You can watch old episodes and new ones on Livefromdarylshouse.com check it out I am sure you will love it.

Check out Daryl Hall on Twitter or Facebook.

You can purchase Laughing Down Crying on iTunes or on Daryl Hall's website.
