March 1st is National Peanut Butter Lover's Day! Celebrate with the new Kraft Peanut Butter with Chocolate

Can it really be true?

Kraft recently released a new flavor of peanut butter! PB with Chocolate!! I have been dreaming of this for years and I am super excited.

I was super excited when Kraft sent me a little gift just before Valentine's Day.  It included the new peanut butter to try.

Now you will know I was just first to jump into this new peanut butter. How couldn't I? My favorite snack is peanut butter cup ice cream with a huge scoop of peanut butter on it! I have also been known to just dig into the jar with a spoon.......

This tasty new treat can be added to shakes, toast, crepes, peanut butter cookies and so many more ideas. We had it on pancakes one nice as my daughter loves Breakfast for dinner. It was so good warm. My new favorite way to use it is on toast with my homemade strawberry jam! SOOO TASTY!

We have run out of our jar already and will be picking up more soon to try making some chocolate peanut butter cookies. It takes like chocolate but also with a nice hint of peanut butter. I love this stuff and I know it will be on our shelf all the time.  Head over to Kraft Canada to find some fun recipes to use the new Peanut Butter with Chocolate. You can also find some great ideas on Kraft Peanut Butter (Facebook).

Thanks @KraftCanada for another tasty Peanut Butter treat!

Celebrate on March 1st with the new Peanut Butter with Chocolate for National Peanut Butter Lover's Day!

Sloppy Joe Skillet

The other night was one of those nights where I kept asking myself "What's for supper?" Of course I am asking this as I didn't do my weekly meal plan. Why haven't I done this plan? I really do not know. I just got really busy after returning home from the conference and didn't plan last week or this week. I will have to get back into the routine for next week.

I had ground beef on hand and thought I would love something with it. I was looking for quick, easy and something the kids would enjoy. I headed over to Kraft Canada and entered that the ingredients I had on hand. I found Sloppy Joe Skillet. It was simple and quick to make. I put it on a bed of rice and everyone enjoyed.
Sloppy Joe Skillet (adapted from Kraft Canada)
  • 1 pkg. (120 g) Stove Top Stuffing Mix for Chicken
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 medium red pepper, chopped
  • 1 can (28 oz) stewed tomatoes, undrained
  • 1/2 cup garlic BBQ sauce
  • 1/4 cup Zesty Italian Dressing
  • 2 tsp. chili powder
1. Mix stuffing mix and hot water just until moistened; set aside. Meanwhile, brown meat in large skillet; drain.

2. Add peppers, tomatoes with their liquid, ketchup, dressing and chili powder to skillet. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; cover. Simmer 5 min. or until peppers are crisp-tender.
3. TOP with prepared stuffing. Cover; simmer 3 min.

While I was making this I boiled 2 cups of water and added one cup of long grain rice; reduce heat to simmer medium-low; cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until liquid is absorbed.

This is a quick and easy meal to make especially if you are in a hurry. It is my kids approved also :)

Kraft Dinner Smart Review & Giveaway

Just recently we had the opportunity to try out the new Kraft Dinner Smart. Available in the KD Smart line are Flax Omega 3, High Fibre, Vegetables and Vegetables with 3 Cheese. These are a great change to the regular Kraft Dinner we all love!

Kraft Dinner Smart contains no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives. The best part is every 50g bowl (3/4 cup prepared) contains a half a serving of veggies, is a high sources of fibre or a source of Omega -3 polyunsaturates. It also still tastes great!

We tried out all the new boxes and everyone enjoyed them all. Cooking the KD Smart is just like cooking the regular KD but the benefits are much better. Think this is a great way to get some veggies into your children if they don't like them. If they do like them think of this as an extra half serving!
See looks the same
The veggie one does smell like Cauliflower when it was cooking. As long as your kids are busy doing something else they wont even notice :) Mine were playing in another room and when it was time to eat we couldn't really smell the cauliflower as much. Tastes great just like KD should. The kids loved it and asked for more but the box only makes 3 bowls at our house.
Don't ask, I have no idea what was in the mind of this 5 yr old! haha

Mom enjoyed a bowl also

Saucy Mexican Chicken

Last week sticking to my new years goal of trying a new recipe each week I set out to find a chicken recipe that would be quick and simple. I did find a great sounding recipe on the Kraft Canada website called Saucy Mexican Chicken. This recipe said it was to be prepared in one skillet and can be ready in 25 minutes!

Saucy Mexican Chicken
prep time: 25 mins
total time: 25 mins
makes 4 servings

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb (450g) boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 1 jar (454ml) salsa
  • 1 can (540ml) black beans, rinsed
  • 1 cup Kraft Tex Mex Light Shredded Cheese
Directions:

1. Cook chicken in a non stick skillet on medium-high heat for 4 minutes on each side or until browned on both sides.
2. Add salsa and beans. Bring this to a boil; cover. Simmer on medium-low heat for 5 minutes or until chicken is done (107F)

3. Top with cheese. Remove from heat and let stand, covered for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted.

I cooked some pasta while I was making the chicken, I figured that it would be nice to have the chicken over the pasta. It turned out really good and it was very quick and simple to make without messing too many dishes. You can also substitute the salsa with 1 undrained can (454 mL) no-salt-added diced tomatoes and add 1 tsp. dried oregano and 1 tsp. of basil.
