Nerf Super Soakers ~ Review

Each year the kids have been lucky to try out new Nerf Super Soakers by Hasbro, this year wasn't any different. With the warm weather well underway we have been enjoying our summer outside! Our favorite places are the park, beach or just out in the yard with some water guns.

This year my daughter was excited to try out the Nerf Rebelle Super Soaker! This soaker is a bow & arrow type one that is white and pink. Made fun for the girls in their Rebelle line of Nerf products. My daughter couldn't wait to get outside and test out her new toy to soak her brother with!

This Nerf Rebelle Super Soaker is a 3-stream soaker that holds 25 oz of water and can blast up to 35 feet. All you need to do is fill up the chamber and pump the soaker to blast your opponent!

My son is loving the new Nerf Super Soaker FlashFlood Blaster as it holds 23 oz of water and is very compact and easy to hold. He loves to fill it up and chase his sister around the yard. This soaker can hit a target 38 feet away but P is learning that his sister can move fast out of the way. The FlashFlood Blaster also has 2 separate nozzles! One for a Flood Strike and one for a Flash Strike. Prepare to get soaked!!

Visit Hasbro's website to learn more about these Nerf Super Soakers and the whole line up of fun Nerf products!

Stainless Steel BBQ cook set ~ Review

There are many reasons I love summer and one of our family favorites is BBQ cooking! Hubby loves to BBQ and will actually get out in knee deep snow in the middle of Canadian winter to cook on the BBQ. Nothing tastes better than a piece of pork or chicken on the BBQ. Even veggies taste better on the BBQ.
Recently we were asked to set out a Stainless Steel BBQ cook set and Hubby was super excited for it to arrive and get cooking. The kit is available on Amazon (Style Asia HW5266 Chefs Basics Select 18-Piece Stainless-Steel BBQ set with Aluminum Storage Case).

  • 18-piece barbeque set in an aluminum case with dual latches for secure storage
  • Includes fork, tongs, knife, grill-cleaning brush, basting brush, 4 steak knives, and 8 corn holders
  • Also comes with a slotted turner with tenderizer blades and built-in bottle opener
  • Professional-grade stainless-steel construction; metal hanging hooks; dishwasher-safe
  • Measures 9-3/4 by 19 by 3 inches
This set turned out to be a lot nicer than we anticipated and are super excited with the quality of the tools. The brush is made with a natural fiber and is soft so not to scratch your BBQ grills. My husband said it isn't as great as the one he has but is very good for the price of the whole kit. He does love the other tools in the kit and found that to be very sturdy and the knives are also pretty good. I love that the corn holders are easy to push into the cob and have nice little handles.

Hubby has been having a blast with his new BBQ tools and cooking us some great meals. He was super excited about having the nice case to hold all his BBQ tools and even a spot that we can engrave his name on it.

This is a great BBQ tool set and would make a great birthday gift or Father's Day present.

GlassesShop.com Sunglass ~ Review

It is really important to wear Sunglasses even on those overcast days and during the winter months. I always have my sunglasses with me as I now find it hard not to wear them. I was talking to a optometrist one day about sunglasses and she said because I am light eyed that I may actually have more sensitivity to light and also the fact that I work overnights also will effect my eyes.

Wearing the proper sunglasses can be hard on the wallet but I have been recently introduced to an online shop that sells cheap glasses including sunglasses.

I chose to review a big pair of sunglasses with dragonflies on the sides. They are great! I love how they block out the bright sun and I have gotten many compliments on the glasses. I find they are great for driving and just being outside. They are not too dark on overcast days so I can still wear them comfortably.

GlassesShop.com has a really nice and clean website that is easy to navigate around. If you are looking for prescription eyeglasses they have a wide variety available for men & women and a few for kids! What I like also is that you can easily order a pair of glasses from the comfort of your own home. Shipping is Free over $49 for regular air mail and Free over $149 for DHL/UPS/FEDX.

Easy returns if your glasses arrive damaged, they also offer returns/exchanges on frames if broken in a certain time frame (ranging from 14-30 days) check out their website for more details.

Get your First Pair Free for a limited time! Just head over to GlassesShop.com and click on the link at the top of their site First Pair Free. Valid on your first purchase, one per customer and prescription. All eyeglasses include: Free 1.50 Single Vision Lenses, Free Anti-scratch coating, Free protection case & cloth.

I love that my new sunglasses arrived in a nice case and included a cloth. I find a lot of the time the cases don't really fit the glasses well but not this time. They fit just right so I can protect my new sunglasses.

Visit GlassesShop.com on Facebook, Twitter and their Blog.  Want to save money? Use this coupon code (GSHOT50) on check out to save 50% off eyeglasses and sunglasses with free lenses (sale frames excluded).

Camping with Coleman Youth InstaClip Screen House ~ Review

Last week our family spent a full week on holidays together. This is a huge thing for us as usually hubby can only get a few days off at a time and sometimes that is even hard to get. This year we had a whole seven days together with the kids and we packed those days full!

We started our vacation with the kids soccer tournament. The kids did a fantastic job and it was a beautiful day for the tournament. Coleman had us covered for our seats and our beverages from 8:30 am to 2pm. The kids played back to back games all day!

We spent some time camping at Murphy's Point Provincial park at the beginning of the week. Coleman had us covered with their coolers, seats and this lovely Youth InstaClip Sceen house the kids set up under to read and play while we were at the campsite. We spent a lot of the time at the beach in the sun the first day.

This screen house was super easy to put up. Hubby and I put it up fairly quickly for a first time and the kids had their chairs and camp table under before we even had the pegs in the bottom. They were more than ecstatic to have a lil place of their own. My daughter was especially happy to keep the bugs away from her.

Of course I thought I would have plenty of time to get a photo of the kids under their screen house but I waited for day two of camping and it rained. Here is a picture of it put up on our lawn. It went up a lot faster the second time around.
Here is some information on the screen house.
·         6 ft. x 5 ft. footprint to maintain a well shaded area on a sunny day
·         5 ft. centre height for youth to stand and move
·         Insta-Clip™ technology for easy assembly
·         No-See-Um mesh keeps tiny insects outside
·         Roof air vents keeps shelter cool in hot weather
·         Polyester material with water-resistant coating shields from rain
·         Centre hub strengthens shelter for windy conditions
·         Pocket organizer holds personal items for easy access
·         Available at Wal-Mart, MSRP:  $46.88

We had a great camping trip but hope that next year our trips will not have us rained out each time. Thank you Coleman for helping us with our camping fun!

SmarTrike Product Review

All new SmarTrike touch steering bike trike

SmarTrike is sold at Toy`s R Us, and retails for $169.99. This bike has some incredible features including the ability to convert to different stages as your child grows. It`s best suited for your child from 10 months to 3 years.

The website, shares the bikes features in a detailed 2 minute video as well as the link to your local Toy`s R Us.

Let`s start off by talking about;

The assembly.

Here we are with the contents straight out of the box.

Too cute not to share. It was a family affair!

The rest of the credit must go to my husband René.

The final product. The assembly took approximately 15-20 minutes (with children helping) and it was fairly simple to assemble.

One step was missing in the instructions, the seat needs to be removed from the frame in order to properly screw in the crotch strap. Simple to do, but a pain to add in once the rest of the bike is assembled and you realize the crotch strap is still sitting on the sidelines.

The ride.

Well there was very few complaints from either one of my children. By few I mean my three year old wanted to know when it could be her turn :)

Here we are in stage one.

Stage two

Stage three

Stage four

Switching through the stages was a very simple process, and you can remove the parts as fitted for your child`s needs. You could leave the padded seat on during stage two, the only difference is the strap, harness vs waist. Switching the front wheel from stroller mode to trike mode is as simple as pushing a button and rotating the wheel 180 degrees.

The features.

This lightweight trike comes in 3 different color patterns; black and white, red with black and white, or purple with black and white. It also offers a comfortable padded seat, and the neck guards on the harness strap were an appreciated bonus. Suspension for those bumpy sidewalks, the wheels are rubber not plastic. Safety bar is large and roomy, your child won`t feel confined and can still wiggle comfortably and remain safe. There is a roomy storage bag on the back which can transport snacks, or light shopping. The Sun canopy provides UV protection. The parent handle is adjustable in height, it even went low enough for big sister to take her turn to push. The foot rest (used in stages 1 & 2) completely folds out of the way and can be restored by simply pulling a small lever underneath.

The most amazing feature this trike has is the touch steering. There is no twisting your wrist to move the direction of the wheel, you can literally steer this trike in any direction with just one hand. I loved it, and so did my children.

In their opinion; the most amazing feature... The cell phone!

Let`s hope he avoids any tickets for distracted driving ;)

Final word.

I give this trike 5 bright stars, I highly recommend this trike if you're preparing to make a purchase like this for your child. Again I am very thankful for the opportunity to review such an amazing product.

Huggies Little Swimmers Review & Giveaway!

Have to say i loved this product!

I will admit though i have openly laughed at my young 12 month old exit the pool with an over absorbed diaper that has to weigh almost as much as he does, and he attempts to waddle away it eventually gives up and falls to the floor, where he seems to be enjoying the freedom as he now flee's naked :)

Here's exactly what i'm talking about!! Notice the over absorbed diaper in her right hand (my daughter last year) ;)

Huggies little swimmers are easy to put on, they pull up. So in less than 20 seconds my little one was ready for the water! As for how they work while in the water... I have nothing negative to say, there was no super absorbtion taking up half the water, and upon exit it fit just as comfortably as it did when we went in.

It was a little cool yet for the pool, so we tried them out at bathtime. Here's my handsome little model before he went in the water.

Enjoying some play time...

Here's the non drip straight out the tub, and runaway escape photo :-)

Loved how it wasn't a leaking over absorbed sponge once taken off...

I strongly recommend this product to all parents whether you are an avid swimmer as we are, or the occasional dipper this product is a must have for the beach bag!

Sizing fits from 16-32lbs, and is available in small (16-26lbs), medium (24-34lbs), and large (over 32lbs) sizes.

Check out Huggies for more information as well as a $1.00 off coupon!

Strawberry Picking Fun + Recipes

My family loves picking fruit. Each year we try very hard to get out and do some strawberry and apple picking. This activity started out to be a fun family outing which then turned into an expected family outing. The kids usually start asking way too early about getting out to pick strawberries. We missed out last year as the season was early and we were very busy but this summer I was very determined to make it out with the kids at least once.

Last Saturday we headed out before lunch to a local farm that has a wide variety of fruits and veggies and also offers pick your own strawberries. The kids had a lot of fun finding the nice big juicy red strawberries and my son decided he wants a summer job at the strawberry farm. The owner told him in a few years to come back and he could have a job. He is stoked, haha.

This year I decided I would make Strawberry freezer jam and also found a recipe for Strawberry-Banana freezer jam. They are both very easy recipes as they do not need to be cooked and the jams don't need to go through the hot sterilization process either.
The following recipes can be found in the Certo Liquid Pectin insert in the box.

Strawberry no cook jam
makes 5 cups

1 3/4 cups crushed strawberries
4 cups granulated sugar
1 pouch Certo Liquid Pectin
2 Tbsp lemon juice
  1. Hull and thoroughly crush strawberries one layer at a time.
  2. In a large mixing bowl stir together fruit and sugar.
  3. Let stand 10 minutes.
  4. Add Certo liquid Pectin and lemon juice. Stir for 3 minutes.
  5. Put into clean containers filling up to 1/4 inch from rim. Cover with lids. Leave at room temperature for 24 hours or till set.
Strawberry-Banana no cook jam
makes 7 cups

2 1/2 cups crushed strawberries
1 cup mashed banana
1 pouch Certo Liquid Pectin
1/4 cup lemon juice

  1. Hull and thoroughly crush strawberries one layer at a time.
  2. Mash bananas.
  3. In a large mixing bowl stir together fruit and sugar.
  4. Let stand 10 minutes.
  5. Add Certo liquid Pectin and lemon juice. Stir for 3 minutes.
  6. Put into clean containers filling up to 1/4 inch from rim. Cover with lids. Leave at room temperature for 24 hours or till set.
Both jams turned out very tasty and everyone is loving them. We have 13 jars in total, for some reason I ended up with an extra Strawberry-Banana. I look forward to making more no-cook freezer jams in the near future as it was very easy to make and this was a great project for the kids to help with.
