The Aukey magnetic car mount comes in two pieces. The magnet that attaches to your cars air vent with a small clamp. This has four permanent magnets in a little circle with a grey rubber over it. This is a closed forced field that effectively reduces magnetic force beyond short range as to not interfere with your smartphone or tablet.
The kit includes two different size mounts that you attach to the inside of your cell phone case. The work best with thinner cases. I have a super think case on my phone, very similar to an Otterbox. My case comes in two parts, a rubber that goes directly onto my cell phone and than a plastic case that fits over top. I find this car kit is a little hard to use with my case but I attached the larger magnet inside the plastic part of my case. You could also place it on the outside back of your case if you don't mind it showing. I do find that the clamp should be higher up on the vent and the magnet on the phone should be higher also to keep if from rotating or popping off when you hit a big bump on the road.
