S.J. Wright's Undead Brown County series Book Bash!

Join in a book bash to celebrate S.J. Wright's Undead Brown County series of books!!

When: August 24th from 12-4 pst,

Where: On Facebook event page.

Read below to find out more about these books that we will be celebrating:
He moved. It was a flash in the moonlight, a blur of motion like I'd never witnessed before. No human had the capacity to move like that. When I found myself face-to-face with him there in the meadow, I knew without a doubt that the journal was authentic. I knew that my grandfather hadn't been crazy at all. Because a foot away from me stood a vampire. What do you do when you find out the people you trust have been hiding a terrible secret? When Sarah Wood's father passes away and hands over to her the responsibility of running the family's inn, she finds put things are far more complicated than she first imagined. She's not just responsible for running the inn. She's become the Vampire's Warden.
Sarah Wood, after witnessing a battle between several powerful vampires on her land, is left stunned and feeling immensely guilty for having given permission for her friend, Alex, to be turned into a vampire rather than allowing him to die from his injuries. And though she tried hard to keep her sister, Katie from knowing about the whole vampire situation at their family’s Inn in the wooded hills of southern Indiana, Katie became the victim of a kidnapping herself. Sarah is left to face the return of her mother, who had abandoned the girls when they were children. She’ll need every ounce of her bad attitude and quick temper to deal with the new surprises coming her way, including an illness that could very well leave the entire responsibility of the Inn and the vampires to fall onto the shoulders of her younger sister.

In the third book of the Undead in Brown County series, Sarah Wood has to deal with the changes in her sister, Katie. She also gets to know someone new in her life who could end up being her salvation. And then there's Michael. He's desperate to keep Sarah safe from his enemies. How far will he go in order to protect her?

They will also be giving away e-book and paperback copies of each of the
books along with some amazing t shirts!

Crazy Weekend

This past weekend was a pretty crazy one. An experience any of us don't really want to go through again. I worked overnights Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend and on Saturday morning I got a call from home, which I normally never get a call from home unless it is an emergency. Well hubby was pretty frantic with what had just happened at home and needed my advice. It was about 7:30 am and our Miss Molly had been sick everywhere, diarrhea and throwing up. I asked how she was and he said she was sleeping.

Around 5 minutes to 10, which I get off work at 10. I get another frantic call on my cell. Miss Molly had the diarrhea all over the kitchen and looked like she may be bleeding. Hubby now is totally freaking out and wondering what to do. I told him to keep her hydrated and I would be home very soon.

When I arrived home Miss Molly didn't meet me at the day like she normally does jumping to the sky, instead she was found laying in my bed barely lifting her head. She was very tired and not herself at all. I gave her water by a syringe and was able to get her to take 50ml. I didn't want to push it as I was afraid she would be sick again. We cuddled down and went to bed around 11:30am and hubby was going to check in on her frequently to make sure she was good and give her water.
Around 3:30 she got up to go to the washroom and have more water and a small bite to eat. Around 7:30pm hubby let her back into the bedroom to wake me up for dinner and to get ready for work. Miss Molly was feeling much better and hopped up into bed giving me kissed and her back paw hit me in the eye.

My eye hurt for a couple minutes and then I was good. I headed into work and got through most of my shift until 5-5:30am. At this time I got a really sharp pain and stinging going on in the same eye that Miss Molly hit me in. It continued on all morning. I was lucky a staff coming in that morning had an unopened package of Polysporin eye drops. I used some and it helped a bit but getting through my morning routines were a challenge to say the least. They took a bit longer than normal as I had to stop many times to close my eyes as they watered and stung.

I went home Sunday morning and Miss Molly was pretty much good as new! YAY! I was very scared as we have all gotten quite attached to the little girl and love her to death. I put more drops in my eyes and went to bed. I got up to my eye feeling much better but still feeling like there was something in my eye. I continued my drops and headed off to work. This time it was much easier to do my work but still that eye is not good.

Monday I decided I would hit the clinic just to make sure no damage was done or infection. The Dr. did a bunch of tests and didn't see any scratches or infections. She told me that my eye may have had a small scratch and it was healing fast. She told me to continue with the Polysporin drops I had started and come back if there is pain, vision problem or stuff coming from the eye.

This morning I woke up to my favorite puppy tucked under the blankets, I guess she also found it cold in the bedroom. Hubby tried to move her out from under the blankets and she got really upset. He tucked her back in beside me before heading out to work.
We are all very happy that Miss Molly rallied around and is back to her hyper Molly self. I on the other hand still will be on the mend for a few more days but am also feeling a lot better than Sunday morning.

Biting Oz Book Tours Begins + Giveaway

Biting Oz

Real vampires do musicals. Gunter Marie "Junior" Stieg is stuck selling sausage for her folks in small-town Meiers Corners. Until one day she's offered a way out-the chance to play pit orchestra for a musical headed for Broadway: Oz Wonderful Oz. But someone is threatening the show's young star. To save the production, Junior must join forces with the star's dark, secretive bodyguard, whose sapphire eyes and lyrical Welsh accent thrill her. And whose hard, muscular body sets fire to her passions. Fierce as a warrior, enigmatic as a druid, Glynn Rhys-Jenkins has searched eight hundred years for a home. Junior's get-out-of-Dodge attitude burns him, but everything else about her inflames him, from her petite body and sharp mind to what she can do with her hip-length braid. Then a sensuous, insidious evil threatens not only the show, but the very foundations of Meiers Corners. To fight it, Junior and Glynn must face the truth about themselves-and the true meaning of love and home. Warning: Cue the music, click your heels together, make a wish and get ready for one steamy vampire romance. Contains biting, multiple climaxes, embarrassing innuendos, ka-click/ka-ching violence, sausage wars and-shudder-pistachio fluff.

Saturday Song of the Day - Blown Away

This week my kids and I have been listening to a new song by Carrie Underwood called Blown Away. My son told me awhile back that he liked a song that goes "Daddy was a mean old mister". For the life of me I couldn't figure it out until recently, the line is in the beginning of the song.

What do you think of the new Carrie Underwood song?

Great Summer Time Snacking with So Good

With the great weather we have had this summer we have been trying tons of different cold snacks. I love ice cream but have to restrict myself to how much I have or it isn't a good thing in my belly. Both of my children also love Popsicle and we have been making Smoothie Pops for sometime now.

Can I tell you a secret? shhh... Don't tell anyone my horrible morning mommy moments. I have also been a choose your battle type person and all last year I had a horrible time getting my daughter to eat before heading on the bus. One morning I decided to make her a smoothie and had to chase her out the door to finish it. Hmm.. not working for me. So I came back into the house to a huge blender of smoothie. Now I can't drink all that it was full of dairy. I decided to make.... Popsicles or now what we call Smoothie Pops. I hand my daughter one in the morning with some other fruit and a smooth morning it is. Is that bad? I mean they are filled with wholesome goodness.

We recently started making them with So Good soy beverage. It is great as you can add Chocolate or Strawberry very easily. The other day we made Chocolate Banana Smoothie Pops. I don't really follow a recipe but you can find a similar recipe on So Good soy beverage Facebook page!

I have enjoyed So Good soy beverage for sometime now. My mom started drinking it years ago as she was told her bones were brittle and that drinking soy would be a great way to increase her calcium intake. So Good soy beverage is fortified with 15 essential nutrients including calcium, vitamins D2 and B12! Plus it doesn't effect my tummy or give me that head cold type feeling if I drink a whole cup.
Another great snack we enjoy, especially myself, is the Soy Frozen Desserts that are available in Creamy Vanilla, Butterscotch Swirl and Chocolate Supreme. They are dairy and lactose free, free of animals fats and healthier alternative to the traditional desserts. Oh and they are oh so tasty! My fave? The Butterscotch Swirl!

So Good offers many choices in flavors - Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla and Original. They also offer individual servings! This is just perfect for back-to-school or for on the go - heading out the door to work.
Don't forget to "Like" So Good soy beverage on Facebook to enjoy great recipes, enter contest and keep up-to-date on what is new!

Update on Miss Molly - 5 months old

This morning Molly had a vet appointment, a quick check up and to get her 3rd set of shots. Molly turned 5 months yesterday and has really grown since her last visit. She is a whooping 26lbs! Remember she is a beagle but mixed with a bit of basset. I am thinking she just may be a heavy girl.

Shhh, don't tell anyone but I would say Molly is a momma's girl! She and I have bonded a lot since we adopted her. She loves to be with me all the time, I have a hard time getting away from her if I am in the house. She needs to be sitting with me when I am on the computer. We have now decided that while I read or blog she will curl up beside on top of me on the bed.
Beagle
I wake up the mornings I don't have to work overnights and find her snuggled up on the pillow next to me (she moves there the second my husband moves in the am). With her being such a suck she barks when we leave her alone in a room. This can drive me crazy quickly but we have to keep her in the crate or kitchen when we can't keep our eyes on her all the time as she is chewing everything in sight. More on the chewing soon.

She loves her walks and will go for as many as she can get in the day. I really wish we had a dog park but I heard that is in the planning stages.

Here are a couple more recent pictures of Molly

Mark of the Witch #BookReview

MARK OF THE WITCH

Magic flows through Jillian Proctor's veins as surely as blood, but so far her life outside Boston has been peaceful. William Morgan blows into Jilly's life like a hurricane, unleashing her magic and sending her out of control. Unknowingly, William brings an enemy who only wants to posses the power of the witch. Jilly must learn to harness her magic before she loses it - and everything in her life is destroyed.

Kindle/Paperback

Review: The story takes place in Salem with a family line of witches with strong magic, the Proctor family. I did find the beginning of the book took off really fast as we got a glimpse of the twins Jillian, or as she is referred to throughout the book as Jilly and Caroline. We learn how they first came into their magic at age 13. Caroline really struggled with the fact of being a witch and decided she didn't want any part of it which made the girls drift apart.

The book did a couple more jumps through the years until we arrived to the present day and met William, who is an amaranthine, he lives forever. I liked the girls right away but there is just something about William that I don't like, feel like he is keeping something more from Jilly.

The writer put a lot of thought into the witchcraft and spells, which were really interesting to read as they trained to fight off an evil character after them. I also love how it was part of everyday life, nothing hidden from most people. This was a really quick read but a really enjoyable story. It was pretty low key on the love scenes, YA novel.

If you want a fun series to read check out Mark of the Witch! I am looking forward to the next book, I have heard will be out this fall/winter!

Don't forget to check out the rest of the tour for guest posts from Jessica Gibson and more reviews on Mark of the Witch.
