About the Author

When Olivia Hardin began having strange movie-like dreams in her teens, she had no choice but to begin putting them to paper. Before long the writing bug had her and she knew she wanted to be a published author. Several rejections plus a little bit of life later, and she was temporarily “cured” of the urge to write. That is until she met a group of talented and fabulous writers who gave her the direction and encouragement she needed to get lost in the words again. Olivia’s attended three different universities over the years and toyed with majors in Computer Technology, English, History and Geology. Thenl one day she heard the term road scholar and she knew that was what she wanted to be. Now she “studies” anything and everything just for the joy of learning. When Kathryn was a little girl, she wanted to be a nurse. However, she quickly discovered that was not a wise choice, since she couldn't stand the sight of blood. Next she wanted to be an actress. Unfortunately, her only talent onstage was that she could be heard in the back row. Finally she decided to become a journalist. Her original goal was to be Jane Pauley's replacement on the “Today” show. Alas, she didn't have Jane's looks, poise, confidence, skill or wisdom. In fact, the only thing they had in common was that they were both corn-fed blondes from the Midwest. In Kathryn's case, much more corn had been consumed. So she ended up being a print journalist for 24 years. She worked for daily newspapers in Rock Island, Ill., and Madison, Wis.; for a Chicago-based trade journal that covered the radio and TV industry; and as special projects editor for the Indianapolis Business Journal. She started a couple of special sections for women, one of which won two state awards, while the other won a national award. She now writes fiction for women. Book Review ~ The Silver Chain by Primula Bond

Review: 
I haven't read the fifty shades trilogy yet but I have read the crossfire series. This new book the silver chain is very similar to the Crossfire series we get to know the main character Serena who is a troubled 20 something trying to get a handle on where she would like her life to go after experiencing a horrible upbringing. She is a aspiring photographer looking to get her prints noticed. One night while taking photos she meets this mysterious dark and handsome guy, Gustav Levi. Quickly we find out that Gustav is a rich man who also owns a Gallery and is very interested in helping Serena get a start in the business. He drafts a very interesting agreement between the two which makes Serena be at his beck and call physically.

The book has works this story line well. We are held captive to want to know more about this mysterious guy and learn more about Serena's horrible upbringing.

I found myself torn between liking these two characters and also sometimes getting mad with them. Serena gave Gustav such an attitude when he was only trying to show his true feelings but also Gustav would get hot/close and back right up from Serena leaving her in the cold.

The whole agreement was hard to believe and the silver chain was also hard to take sometimes as it was used to keep/control Serena. A big control symbol. There was also a scene where the chain was on but they undressed? Is that possible, I think that would be difficult.

The book was well written and edited and the language was clean for the most part even though this is an erotica novel. Not a lot of foul language or harsher sensual terms used and I really enjoyed that. I only gave this book a 3.5 stars as the storyline isn't really believable but the tension between Serena and Gustav was really described along with great passion and romance keeping you wanting more.

Even though this book was a love to hate at times I am interested in reading the next book "The Golden Locket" to find out what happens next. We are left with a bit of a cliff hanger and I am sure the next book will be an interesting one where we will learn more about Gustav's horrible past.

My daughter was super excited to see this video arrive in the mail. She is a HUGE fan of Littlest Pet Shops. My daughter really enjoyed the episodes in this dvd, some of her favorites are the episode when the pets go "Sugar, sugar, sugar" and then "snap" out of it. This episode taught about being kind with their friends. 

Her favorite character is Sugar Sprinkles because of her sprinkles. My daughter has watch this video a few times with her own Littlest Pet Shop pets. She has a lot of it memorized. A gives the video 5 out of 5 stars!

Great Deals on More Than Just Business Cards

As I begin to really get ready for the two social media conferences (BlogHer '13 & Blissdom Canada) I will be attending this year I realized I needed more business cards to hand out. I also decided I would pick up some business cards for my new hobby Genuine Jenn Designs, where I make and sell beaded jewelry and stitch markers for knitting (Don't forget to "Like" my new Facebook page).

I found some great coupons for Vistaprint and they offer coupons for more than just business cards. I have been been purchasing my business cards and other promotional items from Vistaprint for the last few years and have been really happy with my items. They have a wide variety of items that can be customized or you can use there own designs from pens, magnets to t-shirts and bags. Right now I am just getting business cards but I may pick up a few other things in the near future.

Now that my cards are order that is one less thing to have to worry about while packing for BlogHer!

Wordless Wednesday - A Day Trip

The Hubs and I had the whole day yesterday to spend together, this is pretty rare as we work opposite work schedules and both kids were in school. Hubs need to go get his eyes checked and get new glasses. We made a trip to a town nearby, where we enjoyed some YUMMY Fish & Chips from our favorite spot and sat down by the water. Fun DIY Knitted Bracelet for Girls

My daughter wanted something to give to a few of her best friends before school was out. We discussed some ideas and I decided why not make friendship bracelets. I have a ball of purple multi-coloured acrylic yarn that my daughter really likes so we decided to make quick and easy friendship bracelets with that and some fun buttons.

Here is what you will need to make these Friendship bracelets.

• Stash bust some acrylic worsted (4 med) yarn
• 4mm/6 US knitting needles (I love my new interchangeable circulars)
• wool needle 
• fun buttons

Directions: You will need to know basic knitting - cast on, Knit stitch and cast off.

• Cast on 8 stitches using a long tail cast on.
• Knit each row until you get to the size you will need for the wrist you are making it for. I made one at 6 inches but it was too big for my 5 and a half year old daughter. It fit myself. I decided to make it 5 1/2 inches, which worked out great. Remember it will have a bit of stretch to it. 
• Cast off and leave a long tail of yarn to sew up the bracelet. 
• Sew ends together to make a bracelet. 
• Weave in any ends.
• Sew on button(s)

 Give away to a friend or make a bunch for yourself! Have fun with them.
