Soffe Active Wear ~ Review

Since starting on my health & fitness journey I have set goals and rewarded myself with fun activities and fitness wear or equipment. One of my favourite workout brands is Soffe. They offer a wide variety of fitness wear for the whole family.

When I am choosing fitness wear I have a few things I will look for:
  • Comfort
  • Style
  • Moisture Wicking
  • Price
Soffe meets all my requirements. They are super comfy and easy to move around in. They are fun and stylish. I can wear them out of the house and feel good in my outfit. They also have fun colours and prints. Soffe makes a Dri line that is the bomb! They are super moisture wicking and leave you feeling great even after sweating buckets during your workout. They fit just right with a nice thick elastic waist band on the Dri capris! I love the feel of the material. I also love the price! They are reasonably priced so that you can have more than one outfit.

I had the opportunity to review the Soffe Dri Capris and Soffe Dri Performance Racer tank. I have to say I love them both! They are offered in a number of colours and available in sizes XS to XL. Both of these items move along with your body nicely and I don't find them constricting at all. I have worn them for HIIT workouts, weights and also yoga. Now that I have lost more weight I don't wear the pants for HIIT as they have gotten too lose. I will need to get a smaller size.

Check out Soffe's Website or Follow them on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.

A Ottawa Senators Inspired Scarf ~ Knitting

My son and hubby are both obsessed with the Ottawa Senators hockey team. They will put on their jerseys and sit through the game on tv cheering for their team or booing when the other team gets a goal.

Since my son loves to wear Senator clothing - t-shirts, sweaters, socks and his beloved baseball hat. I decided that he needed a Ottawa Senators inspired knitted scarf to go with his winter hat.

This was a very simple knitted scarf that beginners can do easily. If you know how to cast on, knit stitch, and cast off you can do this scarf!

The total size of this scarf is 50 inches long. Gauge doesn't matter in this pattern. I used a Worsted weight yarn (4).

Cast on 20 stitches in your desired color. I started with black as this was going to be the "main" color. Using the Knit stitch knit for 2 1/2 inches then attach the next color (gold)
Knit 6 rows of knit stitch in gold then attach next color (Red)
Knit 12 rows of Knit stitch then attach next color (White)
Knit 12 rows of Knit stitch then attach your main color (Black)
Knit this for 35 inches

Then you will be doing your colors backwards with the same about of knit rows - white, red, gold and then black and knit the last color for 2 1/2 inches and bind off.

There you have it an easy Hockey inspired kids scarf!  Happy Knitting!

Where did all the socks go?

When I was a teen I used to get socks with patterns, funky colors, and print on them just because I really liked them. Now I love those socks as they are easier to match. I know a lot of people look at me funny and say how hard is it to match white socks. Well it can be hard if you have a bit obsessive compulsive disorder. If the socks are not the same ones you wore at the same time then they likely have stains that are not similar or are not the same shade of white. This bugs me. There I said it.

As for when I had children I bought colored socks or ones with colored heels and toes. This I thought would be simple but of course I never thought about the fact that these socks are soooo tiny that they are very easy to get lost in transition to the wash, dryer or anywhere for that matter.

When my daughter was old enough to take off her socks this turned into a new ball game of sock issues for myself. Again this really bugs me when I am pairing socks and can't find have the matches. "A" will take her socks off anywhere and I mean anywhere! I have had socks found in our van, my purse (because she would take them off on walks or at places), all over the house, behind/under her bed, on the couch, in my room, anywhere they can drop they have been found. I have a pile of unmatched socks and honestly we have checked everywhere for the matches and can't seem to find them.
I really love when A will come to me and say "Mommy, I have NO socks!" well my reply is usually like this "if you would take them off and put them in the laundry basket where they are SUPPOSE to go, then mommy would be able to match socks and you would have socks to wear" HA well that is usually answered with "but I doooooo".

How do you keep your children's socks matched? Is there a trick to not losing socks?
