The Portable Pediatrician By Dr. Sears Review & Giveaway!

I'm sure everyone has heard of Dr. Sears and family. If not you really need to keep reading and sign up for this great giveaway! I am sure you will enjoy this.

I have been a big fan of Dr. Sears for at least 5 years. The Baby Book by Dr. Sears was one of the first books I picked up to read when I was expecting my first born. The Sears family has a huge library of parenting books, sleeping, baby, autism, attachment parenting, and even books for the children - going potty, baby on the way and eating healthy.

I had the chance to review the latest Dr. Sears book called The Portable Pediatrician. This is a huge book on all things you will need to know about your child's health some of the topics covered are teething; sprains and broken bones; nosebleeds; measles; ear infections; choking; rashes; colic; headaches; eating disorders; fever; hip pain; warts; allergies; obesity; seizures; Asperger's Syndrome; bronchitis; masturbation; sunburns; pneumonia; speech delay; lice; vomiting; asthma; heart defects; blisters; sleep problems; and more

Pretty much anything a child could have problems with is in this book! It really is a Portable Pediatrician.

My Thoughts: I love reading anything by the Sears family! I wish they could be my children's pediatrician but I live no where near them, so I will keep my current pediatrician and visit Ask Dr. Sears and read Dr. Sears books. Not long after I received the book in the mail my son complained of a sore ear. Out came the book to read up on ear infections. I could see wax, and we treated my son with warm oil. A couple days later my son says his ear feels a lot better. This book does not replace going to the doctor but it can ease your mind and help with know what may be wrong or help with things you can do at home when you do not need to go to the doctors. We have an appointment on Friday adding the oil will help loosen the wax if our pediatrician feels she needs to flush out the ear. I wish I had this book when Parker was born has there is a big write up on Colic and Torticollis. I really do recommend you check out this great resource.

$5 Dinner Mom Breakfast and Lunch Cookbook Review & Giveaway!

Trying to find healthy tasty meals inexpensively sometimes feels next to impossible. If you have been following my blog for awhile you will know I love reading $5 Dinner Mom blog by Erin Chase.

Erin is a mom of 3 boys. Erin lived and worked in the Dominican Republic where she met her husband and learned to shop responsibility, plan and execute 3 meals a day, 7 days a week for 12 teenage boys when she and her husband were houseparents. Now those are some skills for sure!

Review: I really enjoyed reading through this book. Erin share's lots of great tips for freezing, batch cooking and saving money throughout the book. Erin also shares some meal planning idea's and also different ways to batch cook while you are preparing dinner without a ton of extra work. Each recipe has the price for each ingredient and a total cost. These cost are from where Erin lives, in the Midwest, USA. I have found that most of the meals are more for myself but still not really expensive and when you watch for sales and use coupons the price comes down. There are so many recipes I am looking forward to trying, especially all the wraps and muffins that can be freezed for a great on the go meal.Southwest Sausage Muffins, Cheesy Sausage Muffins, Sausage, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Taco, then all the great salads including Minestrone Pasta Salad,Taco Salad and Broccoli-Raisin Salad. I will be able to keep busy this spring and summer for sure.

The first recipe I tried was the Banana Blueberry Loaf Bread and it turned out very yummy. I don't think I needed to mix it as much as I did but it still was good. Here is what it looked like when Abby and I were finished baking them.

Where to Connect: There are tons of different ways to connect with Erin Chase visit her on $5 Dinner Mom Website, Blog, Email, Facebook and Twitter.

EdenFantasys Shipping Review

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store

I have been a fan of EdenFantasys for awhile now. Browsing, waiting and watching all the nice things that they have to offer in their adult store. I decided it was time to place my very first EdenFantasys order. I placed my order on February 8th, it took a couple days to fill my order and then I received my email saying my order was shipped on February 10th.

EdenFantasys ships worldwide! Free Standard shipping to US for orders $59+. International shipping starts at $25 and shipping to Canada starts at $15. I waited to place an order until I had a few things in my cart and shipping was $17. I also received a tracking number for my order.

When ordering if you sign up for a free account you have access to
* No hassle order cancellation and modification.
* Free return shipping labels.
* Various promotional offers and gifts.
* Speedy checkout to save your time.
* Wish List to keep track of what you want to buy.
* Purchase history.

My order to a week from the time I placed it to the time my order arrived at my door in a plain brown box. Very impressive as I am in Canada. I am also very impressed with the privacy, your credit card gets marked with WM8003509050NJ or just Web Merchants Inc. and your box is just a normal brown box with the mailing label - Web Merchants.

I received a free SexIs magazine with articles on new products out, polls etc. I was very happy with my first order and I am looking forward to ordering more in the near future. A sneak peak to some upcoming reviews... Sex Kitten Wicked Wax in chocolate flavor, and a cute bra and undies set.

~*Disclaimer: I am part of the blogger program with Edenfantasys. I will receive a gift card to EdenFantasys for posting my opinions which are 100% my own.*~

To Cut or not to cut?

This has been a question for awhile. My daughter Abby has super fine beautiful hair. The thing is she Hates and I mean HATES getting it brushed or combed. Especially after her bathtime, if it doesn't get brushed before bed it gets all knotted up. I am not home in the evenings and I know when hubby isn't home it may not get brushed due to Abby giving nanny a really hard time. Hubby (Derek) says she needs her hair cut. I agree to a point but will miss the long perfectly highlighted hair.
What would you do in my situation? I was thinking of cutting it to her middle back, past her shoulders. Abby does NOT want it cut and when I ask she will tell me straight out No haircut! With the spring and then summer and all the swimming I am afraid of her getting tons of tangles. This picture doesn't show the highlights but the length. I guess I will have to bite the bullet and take some hair off. Maybe a couple inches to start and she how well she will do with the brushing after that. If Abby will allow us to brush more than she can keep it.

Money $mart Mom Book Review and Giveaway

When I decided to make the change and become debt free I searched all over to find a good book or two about saving money and becoming debt free. It was very hard to find Canadian material. The American material can work but it is very hard to apply since a lot of their government and savings plans are different then we have here in Canada.

I have found a few great coupon sites online and learned of Gail Van-Oxlade from the TV show Til Debt Do Us Part. I wish I had found Sarah Deveau's book back then but you can check out this great book and learn a lot of Sarah now, as I did. Her book is not a "You must do this, and do it my way" type of book like a lot out there. It is all about making your own choices with Sarah's guidance and advice. Sarah gives you a lot of choice and no right or wrong way to help become Financially Fit. Sarah also likes Gail Van-Oxlade and has included her in Money $mart Mom.

I was contacted by Sarah Deveau about her new book called Money $mart Mom: Financially Fit Parenting in January when she was having a half off sale on it. I had the opportunity to review this great book and also offer one of my readers a book for themselves.

I love that Sarah is Canadian and this book is Canadian through and through! This book is a great resource for anyone thinking about having children or even people who have already begun. It's never to late to learn about preparing for the future or navigating Government benefits. When it comes to government benefits and investing I am lost. This gave me a great look at everything the Canadian government has to offer parents.

Sarah includes everything from thinking about having children- when is right for you and learning the true cost of things you really need and can do without. Those baby item lists in book and online I will vouch are not what you really need. A lot of the items you can do without because Baby just may hate it and not use it.

Other topics Sarah talks about are the Basics -budgeting and figuring out where you are and where you are heading, preparing for the future, running a household (one income or two) - meal planning, cost of living etc, and the first, preschool and as they grow plan. Also what happens if things don't go as planned. Which like we all know can happen sometimes.

I have been saving and budgeting for well over two years now and I think I have a pretty decent handle on it. Some days are harder than others but that is another blog post in itself. I feel this was a great read and everyone could benefit! I am in almost my 5th year with having children (can't believe my son will be 5 soon, yikes!) and I still find all the information Sarah discusses as great and helpful information. You really should check out this book.

About the Author: From http://moneysmartmom.ca

"Sarah Deveau published her first book, Sink or Swim: Get Your Degree Without Drowning in Debt (Dundurn, 2003) after graduating from the University of Calgary’s Communications program. When she and her husband decided to have children, she searched for books about the impact having children would have on their finances.

Finding little, she decided to write the book she wished she had been able to buy at the bookstore. Or rather, write the book she wished she could have borrowed from the library!  She began researching and writing, fitting in her work as she had three daughters in four years, finding time while the kids were napping or at preschool.

During those years Sarah also opened Cater Tot Consignment, a children's consignment boutique in Airdrie, Alberta. This 1,200 square foot store has won numerous awards, including Calgary's Child Magazine Parents Choice Awards three years running. Cater Tot has been featured in Today's Parent Magazine, as well as dozens of local newspaper and magazine articles, and on many television programs."

Whirl-A-Style Hairstyler Review

Growing up I used to wear my hair up about 90% of the time. My hair is straight, fine and used to be down to my behind. My mom would braid it or put it up in a ponytail, anything to keep it out of my eyes and up for school and figure skating. Nowadays my hair is much shorter (over a year ago I cut of 14 inches!) but I still like to wear it up a lot especially at work.

Just recently I had the opportunity to try out a Styling product that will do just that. It will keep your hair up in a nice updo and is quick and easy for the average mom on the go. It is called Whirl-A-Style hairstyler, and is a 30 second updo product. I will admit the first handful of times I tried it out, I had a hard time to get it in right and my hair up. Either it was too lose or too tight. Once you get the hang of it, it is a quick 30 second updo that will hold all day. I wore it to work over the weekend for 12 hrs and it stayed put the whole day. I love how nice it hold your hair up. I haven't tried any other styles other than a basic bun but I am hoping to play around with it this week. Their website has how-to's for a bunch of different styles and they are all are for the average women. I recommend trying this product out if you like a nice neat bun or french roll. It's great for people who are active and on the go either with sports, work or just life. I also really like after my hair is up all day, I take out the Whirl-A-Style and I have nice wavy hair great for a date night!

Here is a picture of it in my daughter's hair, who also has fine hair.

And you have to see the front because she was not in a good mood that day.. hahaha it had nothing to do with the Whirl-A-Style hairstyler, she just didn't want to go outside.

A How- to video is available to show you how to use the Whirl-A-Style. Also check out this neat feature where Zania will create a style for you when enter a profile.

Where to Buy: You can Shop Online they cost $10 US. You can also find locations near you that sell Whirl-A-Style.

~*Disclaimer: I received a free  Whirl-A-Style hairstyler for review purposes. I did not receive any other compensation for this post. All opinions are my own.*~

Review:
I was very excited to read Denise Austin's new book Get Energy. I have been lacking energy for sometime now and this couldn't come at a better time. A start of a new year and a new you! This book is not a workout or diet book it's all about finding out where your energy can be drained and fixing it along with some nice stretches to help. Denise talks about changing your outlook on life and learning to find a balanced life (something I really need to find). She talks about not over doing it and taking time for yourself, a deep breath and a great stretch really does help when you need an energy boost. There are tips on eating to boost energy and a 14 day pep plan that I really need to put into place as soon as possible. I think if one applies Denise's tips one would have much more energy for each day. Now just to find time to put a plan into place. This book has been a great book on pointing out there are so many ways that you don't even think of that drain your energy in day to day life. It really was a good read.

Where to Connect: Check out Denise Austin on Twitter, Facebook and on her own website DeniseAustin.com. Also you can download Denise Austin's app.

Where to Buy: You can purchase a copy on Denise Austin's Online Store $16.99 or at Chapters.ca $14.43.

Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves Review and Giveaway!

Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves was started by a busy mom of two who began selling these online in February of 2009. They are wraps for cupcakes that transform your standard cupcake into pretty much anything you can imagine.

All you do is use toppings easily found at the grocery or local party supply or dollar store, the self-adhesive cupcake wrappers instantly transform cupcakes into gumball machines, sushi, popcorn tubs (really neat) or the ones I got to review Hamburgers!

The wraps are resistant to grease, are earth friends and wipe clean if things get a bit messy while making them. They can also be easily reused by using a dab of frosting to adhere them a second time.

Roundabouts have 70+ Designs/Themes to choose from. The possibilities are endless. They can be personalized and customized. Roundabouts Cupcake Sleeves have been featured in Rachel Ray Magazine and are proud winners of the Most Innovative Exhibitor Award at the 2010 July CA Gift Show in Los Angeles.

Review:  When I saw these for the first time I thought "Wow those look neat but I'm sure they are hard to use". They really do look like Hamburgers. I was very excited to try them out. The price to me is a bit high but if you consider what you would pay to have a cake made at a bakery or grocery store, they are not that bad. I tried to make the icing from the color code on the instruction but mine turned green instead of brown. So I made a peanut butter icing. My icing still turned out a little lighter than I would like but I really didn't mind it. My daughter helped get the cupcakes ready to be wrapped. We were making them for daddy's birthday! They are really easy to use. Bake cupcake, top and wrap. The first one I had abit of trouble just to figure out how to hold it and wrap but the second one was much either. These make great conversation pieces for sure and would be great for any party! I would use these again for sure. I like how they can be reused also with just a dab of frosting the second time around.
