Kellogg’s Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys ~ Make. Share. Give

I really can't believe it is already December. I feel like the years are flying by faster and faster each and every year. It also doesn't help when we have nice weather in October and November here is Canada, just throws everybody off.

Each year we talk with the kids about where we can help other families and kids out at the holidays. The last few years we have been helping with the shoe boxes and this year we will be also adding Plan to our giving list.

We are also helping out with Kellogg's Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys program. The kids love to make Rice Krispie treats every holiday season and this is a great way to get the kids involved in something good.

Can you spot the photo bombers?!?
The kids always have a blast while baking with mom, they really enjoy baking items that they can go wild decorating with icing and candies. This was a fun event for all.
My daughter wanted to make a "stuffed cat" but then decided on a snowman, I said it looked more like a bunny so we decided it was a snowbunny.
My son decided to have fun and make a robot! Both of the treats turned out super fantastic and tasty!

Want to be involved?

Kellogg's Rice Krispies #TreatsforToys program is encouraging Canadians to make a toy-shaped Rice Kristpies treat and share a picture of it on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook using the #TeatsforToys hashtag. For every image uploaded from now until December 21, 2015 Kellogg's Rice Krispies will donate $20 to The Salvation Army to buy a toy for a child in need during the festive season.

Don't forget to visit Treats for Toys Website for more information on how #TreatsforToys works, recipes, videos and to upload your photos!

NEW Vector Granola Honey Almond Flavour

I am always looking for tasty and easy protein ideas for my whole family especially as we are an active family. One of my favourite snacks is a bowl of yogurt with either a scoop of peanut butter or granola. I was super excited to try out the new NEW Vector Granola Honey Almond Flavour by Kellogg's. Our family has enjoyed many of the other Vector products. We love that they are high in fibre, protein, vitamins and minerals.

Vector Granola Honey Almond Flavour is no different then the rest of the Vector line and it includes 20g of protein, 5g of fibre, and 10 vitamins and minerals per serving.

The one thing I noticed right away with this granola vs some of the other store bought granola's is that this one has whole almonds! I love almonds and usually eat a serving a day... sometimes maybe even a lil more than a serving..shhh! This is a great post workout snack or one of the Vector bars.

I find the taste not overpowering that it pairs just nicely with some yogurt and has a nice crunch.

My daughter isn't a big breakfast eater but I can usually get her to have a bowl of yogurt and granola before kick starting her day. My son on the other hand would consume the whole box of Vector cereal if we don't keep an eye on him!

Visit Vector website for more information and don't forget to like Vector on Facebook

Giveaway Time! Our friends at Kellogg's would like to offer one lucky Genuine Jenn reader a Vector prize pack! The giveaway is open until the 13th of August at 11:59pm EST and is open to Canadian residents. Please enter the rafflecopter below. Good Luck!

My family loves that my blog is part of the Kellogger's Network as they love to try all the new and exciting products that Kellogg's come out with. I am also excited that I get to share these great products with one lucky Genuine Jenn reader! Read on to see what is new and then enter to win a similar prize pack!

Let's start out with some oldies but favorites of ours! I have to admit Special K is one of my favorite cereals and I love the granola ones with some yogurt. Kellogg's has improved their Original Special K with now bigger, crunchier flakes! They have also made a new low fat granola with Vitamin K. Super awesome if you are like me and working towards a healthier you! I am always on a look out for favorite foods that I can eat but not feel bad about because they are low fat and include vitamins and nutrients that our body needs daily.
My kids absolutely love the Krave Chocolate flavored cereal especially my daughter who has a super sweet tooth. Now Krave Chocolate come in a family size box! I love this as a dry snack for the whole family.
Lets now get onto the new lines! Check out Rice Krispies Multi-Grain Shapes Cereal. The kids had to jump right into this box when it arrived. It is a delicious twist on the original Rice Krispies with fun shapes. I love that they contain no artificial flavors or colours, they are fortified with Vitamin D and are made with whole grains. They are also an excellent source of iron!
Pringles Tortillas! I have to say these are likely my favorite snack at the moment. The serving size is 14 or 15 chips (depending on flavor) and are 140 calories a serving. I find that they hit the spot, packed with flavor and crunch. I love the cheddar ones the best but the ranch are also great. If you are not a flavor kinda person they also have the original tortillas kind.

Do you Start your day off with #CerealAndMilk? ~ Giveaway (CAN)

For the 78 per cent of Canadians who eat cereal for breakfast, cereal and milk are practically inseparable. In fact, according to the Kellogg’s Cereal & Milk Survey,[1] 85 per cent of cereal lovers say they can’t have one without the other.

My son has to have cereal & milk every morning very rarely does he eat anything else for breakfast. He also has it for an afternoon snack most days!

We go through so much cereal & milk in a week that I don't even know if that is normal! I do get the looks in the grocery store when we are picking up our cereal stock! haha.

"Although it’s clear that Cereal & Milk are best friends in a bowl, the survey revealed that across Canada, star-crossed cereal lovers actually disagree on the ideal cereal to milk ratio. Forty per cent (40%) say that one third of the bowl should be filled with milk. Thirty per cent (30%) maintain that you should add milk only until your cereal begins to float. And a small but mighty six per cent (6%) of cereal experts are adamant that there should be more milk than cereal in the bowl.

Canadian cereal lovers were more definitive about whether they like their cereal crunchy or soggy. With 83 per cent of respondents saying so, crunchy cereal is what Canadians crave. Still, that means nearly one-out-of-five (17%) favour soggy cereal. Yes, you read that correctly: soggy cereal."

I laughed at the stats for how much milk should be in a bowl of cereal as I am a more cereal than milk type of person and my son fills the bowl with more milk than cereal most days. I will admit I am not really a milk drinker so some cereals I like dry. They are perfect for a snack.

There are also many great benefits to having cereal & milk to start off your day right. Did you know that studies have shown children who eat cereal at breakfast have a healthier body weight? This fact holds true regardless of the type of cereal they eat. Also

Check out the Kellogg’s Cereal & Milk website to find out more interesting facts that demonstrate just how good a simple bowl of Cereal & Milk is!

New product line-up from Kellogg's Canada

As part of the Kellogger network I am excited to share some of Kellogg's new products! I also have a great giveaway for my Canadian readers so please read on to enter.

New on the grocery store selves are the following from Kellogg's Canada:

Kellogg’s to go shakes (chocolate & vanilla) - These are great for a quick breakfast on the go or for people who are just not breakfast people. I am one of those people when I need to be up and out of the house early. I would rather eat closer to 9am or 10 so one of these shakes make breakfast so much simpler. Each 296ml serving is a source of 22 essential nutrients, 10 g of protein and 5g of fibre.

Kellogg’s Nutri-Grain Fruit crunch bars (strawberry & Apple cinnamon) -  The whole family has loved these tasty fruit crunch bars. They are prefect to throw in your lunch or grab on the way out the door. They are made with 17g of whole grain and real fruit.

Special K Chocolaty Red Berries cereal -  I will admit I am a huge Special K fan and I especially love the berry ones. Adding the little chocolate pieces was a great touch to an already delicious cereal. This has been a great snack in the evening with little calories compared to my other favorite desserts. I do have to hide this from the kids or I don't get any.

Special K Protein Morning Shakes (cafe latte & Mocha) - These are a great source of protein with 10g in each shake and 5g of fibre. They are a great way to manage your weight with the tasty flavors of coffee! I love a quick shake after my overnight shift before bed so that I am not going to bed with a huge feeling in my belly.

Special K Pastry Crisps (cookies and creme & chocolate caramel) - If you are looking for a light tasty snack with 100 calories or less you will love these new pastry crisp flavors. I just love the chocolate caramel ones and have had to hide snacks in places that the family wont find them as they love them just as much!

Special K cracker crisps (salt & vinegar) - These are one of my favorite afternoon snacks and my daughter will devour them right before your eyes. The Salt & Vinegar flavor isn't overpowering but not subtle either. It is just right for my liking. They are a nice crunchy snack that is 80 calories for 18 chips.

This is a great line up to help with weight management without losing out on some tasty treats. Learn more about these and other products from Kellogg’s here

Everyday starts with Kellogg's

Just recently we had a really nice surprise on our door step that was in a big box and included all of these tasty treats...
One this is missing from this picture and it is an awesome Tony the Tiger t-shirt! Yes, I am blogging about cereal! Out of everything I have reviewed in the last year and a half my son gets super (and I mean SUPER) excited for cereal! He loves Kellogg's everything and so does hubby and myself. My daughter loves cereal bars and Rice Krispie squares more than cereal and for breakfast she loves her EGGO's.

I am very excited to tell you that Canadian Coupon Mom is part of the Kelloggers Network and will be bringing you tons of great reviews and promotional information from Kellogg's.

Treats for Santa and his Reindeer

Last week I was really sick, to the point I actually went and sat at the ER because I knew I needed some antibiotics just to get better. I will tell you though after the second dose of meds I did feel a lot better. This has really kicked me in the butt and I haven't felt like doing a whole lot. I have been extremely tired and it hasn't helped that I work overnights and its the holidays.

The kids this year really want to make Santa some brownies but they also wanted Rice Krispie squares for themselves. By the end of the week I wasn't feeling that up to baking so my kids and I made Rice Krispie squares for the family and some to leave for Santa.

Rice Krispie squares have been a great easy snack for years. I remember my mom making them when I was little. They require very little ingredients and can be made in a flash.

Here is what the kids left out for Santa this year!
