Vacation Deal! We are going on a Vacation!!

I am very happy to say we are going on a Vacation this summer! Our family hasn't gone on a vacation in a LONG time, mostly for two reasons, Price and time off of work. Just yesterday I was checking out one of the many Daily Deal sites and this is what I found: $100 for a Two-Night Stay at Marble Lake Lodge ($271 Value) - Any Fri/Sat night in June

Then if you look over the WagJag ad you will see you can save another $25 if you visit for a two night stay from Sunday-Thursday: $75 for a Two-Night Mid-Week Stay at Marble Lake Lodge (Value $271) - Sundays to Thursdays in June

This is the deal I picked up yesterday and called to book my time. If you have never used a WagJag coupon like me then here is how you go about this great offer. I called to ask the lady a few questions about the deal and the cabins. I did ask for the availability I would like as this is only offered in from May 27th - June 30/11 and I only have a week off in June. I wanted to make sure I could get in on my week vacation. Bonus, there was a cabin available. The lady held it for an hour for me to go purchase the deal and call back with the Voucher number. Which I did all in 15 minutes!

My family will be heading to Marble Lake Lodge in June for a two night stay. The cabin we have booked is a two bedroom, with full kitchen, tv/dvd and shower. They do ask you to bring your own bedding and towel but that isn't a big deal to me. I actually prefer that. The lady who I booked with was very nice and friendly and I am excited for our visit.

Project Grocery Week 4 - April 9th-15th,2011

Today I will try and post both week 4 and week 5 of Project Grocery as I am behind. Yikes! It has been pretty busy around here.

The breakdown for week 4 April 9th-15th,2011:

Food Basics: $50.20 This was a big list of sidekicks, french fries (as they were on sale for .99), and tons of fruit and veggies, along with two giant bags of frozen veggies that were on sale from $7.99 for $4.99. I used $8.00 of coupons. I lost out of .50 off as I missed the girl putting the coupons in and she didn't give me my $1.50 off the Irish Spring Body wash! I got a $1.00 off instead.

Independent: $15.48 frozen yogurt, bread and granola bars

Shopper's Drug Mart: $4.09 milk.

Shopper's Drug Mart: $14.25 milk and hair dye (will hopefully get the chance to use it soon and blog about it) plus I used a $3.00 off coupon for the hair dye.

Grand Total this week: $84.02 not bad.. Still under the $100.00 mark.

This week coupons used: $11.00

Home Ec 101 Book Review

As a member of One2one Network I have the opportunity to review different products from time to time. This month I was able to review Home Ec 101 by Heather Solos. Heather is a former Chef, and a blogger-turned-author. You may already know Heather from her blog Home Ec 101 where she features all kinds of household tips, idea’s, recipes and more.

Home Ec 101 Book has a wide variety of information for a new couple moving into their own home, a single person on their own or even the well-established home owner. Topics included in her book are Clean It, Wash it, Fix it and Cook it. I found it to be a fun read a long with great ideas and tips. In the clean it chapters there was even a science talk of chemicals. This has been a great resource for learning all things to do with a home and keeping it clean and in order. This is a great book for all to read, even if you know how to cook or clean this book has a lot of information that you may not have known.

You can purchase a copy of Home Ec 101 on Amazon.ca or Chapters.ca

Connect with Heather Solos on her Home Ec 101 Blog, Twitter or Facebook.

Multibionta Review!

A few years ago I decided to work on becoming healthier. One small change I did about three years ago was to start taking a multi-vitamin. I have been working in the health field for more than 10 years now and I am exposed to a lot of colds and sometimes even the flu. My immune system isn’t as strong as it could be and I have had my share of colds ever year.

This year I was asked if I would like to try a vitamin that is also supposed to help boost ones immune system. I jumped at the chance as I have been battling a bad sinus infection since last fall. This vitamin is made by Merck kGaA organization which is a global company that has a history dating back more than 350 years.

I am sure you have heard of Multibionta (mul-ti-bee-ON-ta) Probiotic vitamins, but if not I will tell you more about them and my own personal experience using them for 30 days. Multibionta is more than a normal multivitamin, it has a combinations vitamins, mineral and probiotics that optimize digestion, strengthen your immune system, reduces stress and exhaustion and keeps you healthy.

Multibionta is the first and only multivitamin with probiotics in Canada. Probiotics are used to help aide in a healthy digestive system. When you have a healthy digestive system your immune system will be much healthier and you will be less likely to get sick.

Facts on Multibionta:

*Provides nutrients to maintain good health
*Strengthens the immune system
*Optimizes digestive and intestinal health
*Reduces the duration of colds
*Reduces the severity of cold and flu systems
*Reduces stress and exhaustion
*Comes in a 3-layer easy to swallow caplet

Available in most major retailers including, drug stores, mass and grocery stores with pharmacies. Multibionta is available in 30 and 60 caplet bottles. They are also available in Multibionta 50+ for active people over 50+.

The price ranges from $12.99-$25.99.

For more information, coupons and other offers visit Multibionta.ca

My thoughts on this product are pretty good. I have found I have more energy and have dodged a lot of the colds and the flu that went around both at home and work. I did have a pretty bad head cold just after starting Multibionta and it cleared up faster than normal. Also as I am typing this, my family is trying to get rid of a nasty head cold and cough. I haven’t gotten this cold yet and I am keeping my fingers crossed. Normally I would have gotten it by now and it would have been worse than the rest of the family. I am going to pick up my next bottle after I am done posting my review as I took my last vitamin yesterday. I recommend giving Multibionta a try and see if it helps you. I also want to Thank Bzzagent for allowing me the great opportunities on trying some great products and sharing my experience with everyone!

~*Disclaimer: I am a Bzzagent and received a complimentary bottle of Multibionta to try the 30 day challenge.  All opinions are honest and my own.*~

He Kan’t Kill Your Future Book Review & Interview

I recently reviewed a book called He Kan’t Kill Your Future by Sharquent Webster. I will give you a little information on the book, and then I will have a short interview with the writer.

He Kan’t Kill Your Future is a glimpse of Sharquent Webster’s life growing up in South Central Los Angeles. Sharquent has been to hell and back for sure. Sharquent tells her story of her family separating, being molested as a child and then living on the streets and using drugs. The book continues on as Sharquent stumbles upon Victory Outreach, which is a women’s rehabilitation home and ministry. From there we follow Sharquent through her discovery of God and finding herself again.

I have been lucky to chat with Sharquent about her book and life and this is what we talked about.

Before starting I just want to let you know I think you are a very strong person. I want to thank you for taking the time to write this book for people who may be going through something similar or someone who may be trying to help someone through something similar. It is great to see such a happy end to such a scary life. I was at the edge of my seat through the whole book.

You start off your book mentioning your parents separating but then there is no mention to what happened to your father, is he still around in your life? Did he have no contact with you or any of your siblings?

You were right, I never mentioned anything else about my father after he and my mother split up. I guess because once he left the house, he was pretty much gone out of our lives for the most part. After he left he maybe came bac twice to pick us up to visit him. After that we did not keep contact, until  we were in our late teens.

No he is NOT still around in our lives today. He does not have any contact with any of us. I believe thats because when we got a little older it was always a BIG mistery rather he was our biological father or not. They NEVER told us the truth even after many attempts. So it leads us to believe he is not our father. So I guess it doesn’t matter to us that he is not in our lives.

While reading your book, I did get a little lost on the time line. Can you give my readers an idea of how many years the book took place over?

It all began in Elementary School about the 5th or 6th grade. I walked into that rehab home at 23 years old. I am now 45 years old next month, and I have never looked bac. God has KEPT me, by his grace and mercy :)!!

How many siblings do you have any do you keep in touch, has this caused a lot of space between you and your family?

There is ten of us. One passed away after about 1 year of age. Nine of us are still living. We do keep in touch some what. We all live our own seperate lives. Two of my sisters reside in Sacramento Ca, I reside in Atlanta Ga, and the rest are still living in Los Angeles. Its kinda hard to answer that question,, I do believe it has created some space in our lives. We don’t go out of our way to visit each other, but we do get along well when we are together.

When you look back on your early years can you believe that you were able to walk away from all of that?

Well that is an emotional question for me. But its ok. Yes when I look back on my early years, and through out my entire life,,, NO I cant believe I made it through it. It is a MIRACLE what God has done in my life. And for that I am forever grateful!! I often think about my child hood and still weap as though it happend yesterday! I some times dont understand "why" I still cry. It was a horiable life to live!! It was so much mintal and psycal abuse that some of my siblings are a little slow mintaly. a few of them get disability checks because of it.

Is this your first book that you have written? Will we see anymore? Is this a self – published book?

Yes this is my first book, yes there will be a few more. I have already written my second book titled "IM STILL STANDING!" And yes I self published the book.

Can you tell us about the making of this book, why did you decide to write a book about your life?

My husband of twelve years kept saying through out the years that I should write a book. But I kept saying no. So as we were leaving our church in San Diego Ca, I was sitting looking at every one being busy moving around. And I said to my self "Ive ben in this church for fifteen years and nobody knows "my life story." So that motivated me to write. And I emmediately began to write. Also I knew I had a story to tell.

Would you like to share anything else with the readers of Canadian Coupon Mom?

Well there is one thing I would like to say to your readers. And that is,,, I would realy love to finaly know if my father is my biological father. It means more than the world to me for him to look me in my eyes and finaly tell me the truth. Ill always wonder. Thank you and God bless you!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would like to thank you Sharquent for taking the time to answer some questions and chat with us.

My thoughts, this is definitely a book for anyone who may be struggling with a life of drugs and abuse to help you know that you too can find a better life. God is around even if we are not huge believers or of different faith. There is a higher presence there helping us find our way. I highly recommend reading this book if you work in a women's shelter or as a social worker. This is an eye opener, to another persons life and experience for sure. The chapters are short and the book is raw, to the point and it does have a few spelling and grammar errors. If you don't mind these things I would suggest reading this book.

You can purchase this book through Amazon.ca

~*Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of He Kan’t Kill Your Future from Bostick Communitcation and Sharquent Webster for review purpose. All opinions are honest and my own. I would like to Thank Sharquent for taking time to answer some questions for Canadian Coupon Mom.*~

Wear Pink and take a stance on Bullying

On our way home from Playgroup this morning and P told A and I that we should be wearing pink today. I had no idea why he was telling us to wear pink. He also said I don't have pink but I am suppose to wear it today.

I was talking to my mom on the phone and she right away said "Are you have pink on today?"

I said "no, what is with the pink P just told me to put pink on?"

A little more research into the Pink, today a student-led anti-bullying movement, Speak Out, is asking people to wear pink to raise awareness on Bullying. Speak Out founder Alex has launched his self-produced documentary Speak Out: The Documentary today and this day has been declared National Speak Out day. Students across the country will be wearing pink to help raise awareness and Stop bullying!

Pepsi Refresh Project is a program that funds ideas promoting positive social change, Alex applied for the $5000 grant to help him create this great documentary. Alex is an aspiring filmmaker and wanted to create a movie that would be used as an anti-bullying tool and encourage peer dialog about the issue. Alex was one of 10 chosen by Canadians to receive funding following a two-month public voting campaign on the Pepsi Refresh website

Ways that you can help out: Wear pink and Speak Out. Go to Speak Out on facebook, follow Speak Out on Twitter and tweet using the hastag #SWSO. Please watch the Documentary then spread the word about Speak Out.

We can make a difference if we all work together! Please also read my son's experience with bullying in JK here.

Bullying is a problem even in Jr kindergarten

P has a problem at school and I don't even know where to beginning to tell you about it. I don't want to vent too much on Canadian Coupon Mom. It is suppose to be fun and free but there has been an on going problem with my son since just before March break.

My son has had this friend from down the street who is also in his kindergarten class. Now when they first met they hit it off and had a ton of fun playing together. I will admit P is very sensitive and he has been told right from wrong in our eyes from the moment he was born. This may have been a bad way of parenting on our part, I don't know.

P loves school, just loves it and wants to go everyday even on the weekends. At the beginning of the school year he had lots of friends both boys and girls and loved to come home and talk about them. Since this has happened there have been days P has said he doesn't want to go to school, or that he doesn't have school anymore.

One day P came and told me "I'm not friends with B (lets call him this), he is bold and mean to me".

I replied with "P why are you not friends? how has he been mean?"

P: "He calls me Baby P Baby P and he also plays shooting games when I told him I don't want to play" This was told to me in such a way that I just wanted to cry. The hurt that came from Baby P was unreal.

Me: "P can you talk to him, I am sure he doesn't mean this. Is anyone else mean to you?"

P: "Yes, (P named off about 4 more boys, there are about 9 or 10 in his class) in my class, I only play with girls. S asked me why I was crying when B was mean."

This is a conversation I had with a four year old. I will admit he can be over the top sensitive but he is very sharp for a four year old. This breaks my heart that this is happening already in JK. I did figure he would get teased and likely bullied but not until grade 2 or more. He down right refuses to play with this child as P reminds me he is mean and bold and he doesn't like that.

Bullying is defined as so many things here is one definition I have found online.

"A person is being bullied when he or she is exposed, repeatedly and over time,
to negative actions on the part of one or more other persons
and he or she has difficulty defending himself or herself..” —— Dan Olweus

I attended an Anti-Harassment training at work last week and bullying was a huge part of the training. Things as little as the silent treatment from your shift partner, with holding information to do you job properly, are all things that are considered bullying. Things that you would never think as bullying or harassment.

Yesterday something happened at school. P came home and wanted to leave the bus stop as quick as he could, he was asked by B to go to his house and he did not want any part of it. He also had a lot of "melt downs" over anything and everything. In daycare this is how P would show something happened in his day that upset him. By the end of the night we could usually get him to talk. From what my mom got from him was that his French teacher had a talk with both children to figure out what was going on. P did not say anymore but was very upset by his day.

I know the mom of B will likely read this and will be upset but I needed to get this out and off my chest. This is hurting me to watch my son in such pain over this. He enjoyed his friendships until whatever has been happening at school. I also feel that since the two boys can not work this out at the moment and yes my son might be stubborn and stuck on things have happened it is still something that is effecting him. I also feel going to the bus or playgroup that the mothers there are giving me the cold shoulder for this. I may be wrong. I am hoping I am wrong but this is how I am feeling at the moment.

~*Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored post. All opinions are honest and my own. Bullying is a serious matter and it should never happen to a child. Lets take a stand and fight bullying.*~

Retro Bra & Panty Set w/ Ruffle by Coquette Review

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store

In my first order from EdenFantays, I picked out a few different things to review. I will review each in its own post.

First up is a Retro Bra and Panty set with ruffle by Coquette. Instead of adding pictures as this is a family oriented site I will just do a review with links to EdenFantasys. If you would like to check out the set, please check it out in the sexy lingerie section. This is a cute little number, nothing over the top just cute and sexy. I will admit I can be a girly girl when it comes to some clothes and for the bedroom I do like girly things. This stood out as it was black with cute pink ruffles.

I decided to go with a small as the outfit looks like it should fit tight and I wasn’t too sure a medium would fit right. I am very happy I went with the small as I feel this set runs a little big. The bottoms are not tight and the top fits just right to curve the body in all the right places.

Dh really liked it also when it arrived and when I tried it on. The set looks to be made very well, seams and all. I think it will stand up in the wash. I always hang dry my under garments but I do like to throw them in the wash and not hand wash.

It is a very comfortable set and if it didn’t have the ruffles I would wear it as an everyday set. The material is very soft and stretchy. It does have under wire which I like but I know some people do not. This outfit moves really well with your body and doesn’t rid up. If you are looking for something cute and sexy I would suggest having a look at this outfit. Also the price is quiet good also at $28.99.

Window's Scams

There have been a lot of Scams going around lately. Two very dangerous ones if people think they are real. These can give the person all the information needed to do Identity theft, and credit card theft.

The first one I will tell you about is a phone call out of the blue. This caller will say they are with Window's, Microsoft, big company who most would trust. The caller then will tell you that they want to help with your computer, make it work better and faster. They will ask you to do a few things on your computer. Ask you to follow what they tell you and then this will help them access your computer and files. Please whatever you do, do not do this!

The next scam I received last night while asleep. It is from "Window's Live". Here is the exact email above this in the email there is a horrible image file attached that says Window Live Hotmail Alert and highlighted in Grey.

Funny part is I use my email daily and a bunch of times throughout the day as I use it for my blog. Please whatever you do, do not do as they ask and report them to Windows and in some cases the police.
