About the Author:

I'm an author of twenty books for children, including the best-selling Twas The Evening of Christmas, The Wonder That is You, and two popular series: Love Letters from God and Snuggle Time. Here's my little story...

Although I live in Michigan, USA, I was born and raised in a little village in northern England.

I grew up in a big old house, with two wonderful parents and seven siblings. My dad was the one who introduced me to the gospel. My mum was the one who encouraged me to work with children.

And at primary school, my teacher was the one who urged me to write. One day a week, I was one of the lucky few withdrawn from the classroom to sit in big, comfy armchairs in the teachers' lounge. There, in front of a roaring log fire, with pencil and paper at the ready, I would write.

Four long decades later, I would find myself living across the pond, married to a wonderful man, mum to four adult children and three daughters-in-law, and grandma to three bouncing boys and one gorgeous girl. And as if all that wasn’t blessing enough, I somehow became an author, despite giving up on my first book half way through.

And if you would have told me then, that this book would one day become a series, that I would begin a second series, and a third… I never would have believed you. The only possible explanation is that our great God is able to do immeasurably more than all I could ever ask or possibly imagine.

And to God alone, be the glory.

Review:

Getting into the Christmas spirit my daughter and I were looking for some Christmas books to read together (She is twelve but still loves flipping picture books from time to time especially Holiday ones). This was a great little book for young children. The pages only contain a few sentences in a beautifully written poem that flows throughout the book. Great News! is given all around from Mary and Joseph to the donkey's and the birds. The illustrations are beautiful and would easily keep any  child's attention while reading this short version of the birth of Christ. I definitely recommend this board book as one to add to your Christmas reading list.

Oliver and Jumpy: Rescue in the Picture (Story 37-39) by Werner Stejskal ~ Children's Book Review

These illustrated cat stories are all about “Oliver and Jumpy”, who are best of friends and experience many adventures together. Oliver is an elegant black tomcat, who is full of himself. As a matter of fact he says: “I love myself!”, quite often. Naughty, isn’t he? But his best friend Jumpy, a kangaroo lady, is aware that he has a soft heart and will always want to help others. The great thing is Jumpy’s pouch, which Oliver loves to ride in! He calls her his kangaroo taxi! These little bedtime stories with their lovely illustrations are great for small kids. A parent can read the text and tell the child in his own words. These animal stories have sufficient text to keep early readers happy and provide some educational value. Depending on your device, there is pop-up text available. Love you all! Meow! Check out the Free INTRODUCTION TO THE SERIES to see how beautiful the illustrations are! Story 37: Rescue in a Picture - What a way to travel! Check this out! Story 38: Wet Cat - Oliver has a wet accident. Story 39: Down River – Dangerous boating on a wild river55!

Born in Vienna, Austria, I am now living in the paradise of Perth, Australia with my wife, two married children and three grandchildren. I worked many years in the printing industry and later for the United Nations in Vienna. My wife had been a pen-friend, whom I visited in Hong Kong and finally got married to. After an eventful life, finally retired, I began to write children's stories, had them illustrated through Odesk, narrated them myself for YouTube and finally published the ebooks on most platforms. I will publish 17 books with three stories each in English, before translating into several other languages. My dream is to see "Oliver and Jumpy" animated as a TV series.

Our review:

What an adorable short story for both my children. Oliver the Cat, and Jumpy the kangaroo, take you on their short yet fun filled adventures. Each story is just a few pages long, and this edition actually includes 3 stories. Each one the perfect length for before bedtime reading!

These stories are most appropriate for children 3-7. Illustrations are colorful and detailed.

 About the Author:

Hi! I’m Marie Story

I found my way into this field in a rather unconventional way. Born and raised as a third-culture kid in Asia, Africa, and Central America, I was exposed to incredible international beauty, culture, and art from a very young age. Instead of taking the traditional educational route, I developed my skills through a series of fantastic apprenticeships under professional illustrators and designers around the world. Each one contributed something unique, and my work is a reflection of many individual influences.
I’m passionate about great design. I get excited at opportunities for creativity. If you choose to work with me, you can count on my full energy, attention, and passion throughout the course of your project. Whether you’re looking for a simple flyer, a creative promotional campaign, a clever logo, or a full book of illustrations, you can count on me to get the job done right.

Our review:

This story couldn't have been a better fit for our coin capturing soon-to-be 5 year old!

It's a story about a young boy who finds a penny and teaches the reader how to make it more. Appropriate age for this story would be 4-8 years. It is short and simple, the text is great for those learning to read. The pictures are very well illustrated.

There is a great page at the end with currency denominations it is in US currency. My canadian girl was quick to point out the difference but that in itself was another learning opportunity!

Our review:

No gift for Peter is a story about patience.
It's the eve of christmas day and Peter wants to open his gift. His parent's remind him to wait, and to go to bed and wait till morning.
He doesn't wait till morning, and goes to the tree after everyone is asleep and thinks it be harmless to just take a peek.
Just then Santa arrives, and explains that since Peter was impatient, he wouldn't be getting his gift on the top of his list, and instead he will be getting the gift of learning patience.
This is difficult for Peter, he doesn't want to wait, he gets frustrated at traffic lights, friends and his family members as he waits...
Eventually being patient becomes easier, and easier and the year passes.
For being so patient his family rewards his efforts on the eve before christmas with a delicious chocolate cake, and he's rewarded with another visit from Santa.

This is a short chapter story. Perhaps more appropriate for a child 7+. My 4 year old listened, but it was a bit too long with her. We did read it, we did enjoy it. Thank you to Sabinah for an opportunity to read and review it.

Merry Christmas!

About the Author:

When I gave up teaching, I began to write about what I knew the children had enjoyed reading: a modicum of magic, a sprinkle of the surreal, a pinch of peril, a touch of time-shift, and strong characters with whom child readers would identify and champion. With intricate and unique plots, twists and surprises, the recipe for mystery and adventure was created.

To date, I have written eight children's novels and one children's poetry collection. They are all suitable for readers of 8 - 12.

I also write short stories for adult readers. Many of these have enjoyed success in writing competitions. I have compiled three short story collections and I am currently working towards producing two more. Also available is anthology of humorous adult poetry. I write serious poetry, too.

Our review:

My young family sure did enjoy this interactive read along book. Each page has a very sing-along chime to 'if you're happy and you know it, clap your hands'.
My two year old son most enjoyed his chance to beep-along, and point out the many farm animals Little Blue Truck passed along on his drive.
My four year old also enjoyed her chance to beep along.

Overall, if I were to suggest this book to families with young children I certainly would. This adorable read gets two thumbs up from all of us!  I would appropriate this book for a child 18m-3yr, when they're most interested to sit and participate with a short story.

The Monster That Ate My Socks by A.J. Cosmo ~ Children's Book Review & Kindle HD Giveaway!

Book Synopsis:

A young boy, who is about to be grounded for going through so many socks, discovers that a monster has been eating them.

Max is a young boy who is constantly getting in trouble for his socks disappearing. He doesn’t know where they go, but he does know that if he doesn’t do something quickly his mom will ground him for summer. Max soon discovers that a little green monster is sneaking into his room at night and eating his sweaty socks. His mother, of course, doesn't believe him, so Max calls on his best friend to come for a sleepover to catch the monster. They devise a trap and capture the monster only to learn that the creature can speak. It hasn’t meant to cause any harm, it's just trying to feed its family. The monster shows them his home and his three little children and begs the boys not to turn them over to the adults. Adults, he says, want to destroy monsters.

The boys are left in a pickle. Allow the monsters to be and get grounded, or turn the monsters in knowing what will happen to them? Neither idea seems good, so they come up with a new plan!

Review: This review is by my son, P, who is 8 years old.

I really like this story because there are three cute little monsters that need food from their dad. The story is about a boy who plays soccer and has dirty socks. At night a monster comes and eats his socks. I like the part where the boy and his friend trap the monster and ask him question about why he is still the socks.  I love the illustrations of the cute monsters and found this book to be very entertaining. I think anyone who likes monster would like this book. I give it a 4.5 out of 5 stars!

Mom's review: I thought this was a great kids book. The illustrations are very colourful and fun. It isn't a long book so it is great for new readers to get into more novel type reading. My son loved this book and read it to his sister who also enjoyed it. I love that at the end of the book there is a lesson plan which is a great way to see what your child thinks about the book and getting them to let you know the beginning, middle and end of the story. Great book!

Book Synopsis:

In the second book in the Night Buddies series, red crocodiles start popping up all over the city, creating confusion, committing crimes, and causing Crosley to go a little crazy at the sight of them.

The impostors must be stopped, and Night Buddies John and Crosley are just the guys to stop them!

These adventures after lights-out will delight any young reader who relishes an adventure/fantasy in the wee hours of the night.

The Night Buddies series revolves around the nighttime adventures of a young boy named John, who is not ready to go to sleep, and a bright red crocodile named Crosley who turns up under John’s bed.

Each book starts by having this unlikely pair sneaking out of John’s house using Crosley’s I-ain’t-here doodad, which makes them invisible to John’s parents. They embark on their Program, the Night Buddies word for Adventure, and make their way around the Borough chasing down enemies and cleaning up the mishaps at hand.

Review: This review was written by my son who is 8 years old.

My favorite character was John because he went in the manhole and fire a roman candle. The story was good. I think others should read the book because there were reptiles and it was really funny. I also liked the book because the lizards dressed like Crosley the crocodile. I would like to read more of the Night Buddies series. I give this book a 4.5 stars out of 5!
