Easy Rice Krispie Halloween Treats

With Halloween only a few days away my kids have been bugging to make some Halloween treats. Today was a PA day at school and we decided it was the prefect day to pull out this fun little pack that we received from Kellogg's this month.

These easy fun Halloween treats can keep the kids busy decorating for at least an hour! What you need are Rice Krispies, Marshmallows, Vanilla, margarine, decorating icing and sprinkles/candy.

Use the original recipe for Rice Krispie squares and then instead of using a baking dish, use a cookie sheet or wax paper. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters that have been coated with margarine or cooking spray.

Rice Krispie Squares
50 mL1/4 cupmargarine or butter
250 g1 pkg(about 40) regular marshmallows or 5 cups miniature
2 mL1/2 tspvanilla extract (optional)
1.5 L6 cupsRICE KRISPIES* cereal
  1. Melt margarine in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.
  2. Stir in vanilla. Stir in KELLOGG'S* RICE KRISPIES* cereal until well coated. Using lightly buttered spatula, press into buttered 3.5 L (13 x 9") pan.
  3. Allow mixture to cool. Cut into bars. Best if served same day.
There are many different Rice Krispie Halloween ideas to choose from. We decided to go the easy route and use a pumpkin and bat cookie cutter. I let the kids go wild with the decorating and they had a blast. They enjoyed them even more when they were able to eat one at the end of making them.
Happy Halloween!
