Knitting ~ Glitzy Ruffle Scarf (Frilly Scarf)

You know those nice frilly scarves that were all over the place this past winter? The ones that are multi-coloured, some with sparkles and some plain? My mom has been dying for one of those. Now that I have been learning to knit I thought this would be a great lil surprise for my mom as she does so much for us.

I ventured into the craft shop recently with the kids and we picked out this pretty multi-coloured sparkly yarn called Sashsay by Red Heart yarn. The ball of yarn has the pattern on it for free and all you need is one ball of yarn. This is the pattern Glitzy Ruffle Scarf.

This was the first time I worked with this type of yarn. It isn't a typical yarn, if you haven't seen this yarn it comes in the ball looking like yarn but then you are to spread it out as you knit and it looks more like a lace. Just like in the picture above.

This pattern is an easy pattern and great for beginners as it is just a knit stitch with 6 stitches or 8 if you prefer. I did find it a bit tricky to get started and keep the stitches on the needles. They slip and slide so you will want to be careful while knitting this and also if you put it down. I put mine down and have them slip off when I picked it back up. I am super thankful I was only 6 rows in.
On the company website and on YouTube you can find tons of get how-to videos for this scarf. It helped me with the cast on since it is different and more of just a weaving in through the loops. My scarf ended up being huge! Maybe 6 feet long but my mom loves her new scarf and I am pretty proud on how it turned out.

Next project a Cowl with this fun looking yarn I picked up on clearance for $1.40 a ball!

It is sooo true! I was having a blast knitting this one and it was super fast and comes out so pretty! I am an instant gratification person. I have already spied a few more colors I will be making for next fall!
