How to Make Homemade Crayons - Halloween Style DIY

Last week A wanted to make something for her class for Halloween. We have been talking about make homemade crayons for awhile now and decided this was a great time to try them out. I remembered seeing a great Wilton cookie tin at Walmart, so we headed out to see if we could get one for our craft.

To make your own Halloween rainbow crayons you will need the following:

• Broken crayons, pieces or even whole crayons
• A cookie tray or silicon molds
• Knife/Cutting board (one that you don't mind getting wax on)

First you will need to remove any crayon wrappers and break or cut crayons into smaller pieces.

Decide if you want to do all one color or rainbow color crayons and sort your crayons into piles.

Preheat oven to 325 F.

Fill muffin/cookie tin/molds (this will depend on how think you will want the crayon but the thicker the better to hold together when the kids are coloring).

Bake for 10 minutes or until the crayons are melted. The ovens can vary and everyone seems to heat their ovens to different temperatures. I would just suggest watching the first patch to determine your time.

Remove from oven and let the crayons harden, again you can pop them in the freezer if you would like. I just let them sit on counter for about 15 minutes. When hardened remove from mold, tray etc. I found I needed to tap lightly the back of tray. Again do this on a cutting board to keep wax from getting on everything.

Enjoy! My daughter took a big bag to school and gave them out to all the kids.
