Health Benefits of Mushrooms + Artichoke Stuffed Mushroom recipe

Did you know there are many great health benefits of mushrooms? I know for myself growing up I loved mushrooms but never looked into why they are so good for us until my hubby became a mushroom farmer.

Did you know that mushrooms can help manage your weight? Mushrooms have high water content, are low in fat, they also contain fibre. These are three factors that help you feel full while consuming  fewer calories.

Mushrooms also are great for cutting cholesterol again as they contain both soluble and insoluble fibre. Soluble fibre has been shown to help prevent and manage heart disease by lowering the levels of the LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol!)

Fibre is such a wonderful thing and very few of us consume the daily recommendation for a healthy adult of 21 to 38 grams of fibre! Look for products that contain a minimum of 2g in one servings.

Today I was a guest blogger over on Mushrooms Canada blog! My recipe - Artichoke Stuffed Mushrooms. We love Portabello mushrooms as they can be prepared so many ways, especially stuffed and on the BBQ!

Are you looking for different ways to incorporate mushrooms into your meals? Please stop by Mushrooms Canada blog. While you are there please check out my post and leave a comment to show your support. Thanks!
