Jenn's 2016 Reading Goals

The last couple of years I have made myself reading goals or challenges, some years (like 2014's challenge) are very focused. Usually I put a number of books to try and read over the year, last year I only put 25 books to read on my goal as I found I struggled the year before. This year I was fortunate to land a new position at work that leaves me less time and more time to do things I love like spending more time with the family, fitness and of course reading!

I realized I didn't really have a challenge/goal last year other than to read 25 books. This year I am going to work harder towards catching up on review books and on books that I have purchased over the last year to read.

Do you track which books you would like to read and which you have read? I am hooked on Goodreads and have been for a few years now. This year I have made shelves to organize which books I will read each month, I am hoping this will help keep me on track. I will start there with a goal of 5-6 books a month unless they are novelettes, short stories or novellas.

One of my main goals is to read all of the Temperance Brennan books by Kathy Reichs. There are a lot in this series! It will take me well over a year to read them all as my goal is to add one book a month to my to-be-read list. Starting January, I will start at the very beginning with Deja Dead. I have read #17 Bones Never Lie and this is what has me wanting to read more from Kathy Reichs.

This year I want to keep expanding my genres and will read at least one in the following genres as these are new to me:
* Graphic novel
* Steampunk
* Sci-fi
* Fantasy
* Erotic Horror

I will also work on reading more self-help books in personal development, mindfulness, meditation and relationships.

I will aim to read 60 books this year, really hoping to read 75+ but lets be realistic. Once Goodreads sets up the 2016 challenge I will set my challenge there and get tracking. Join me on Goodreads and follow Genuine Jenn on Twitter.
