Walmart Mom of the Year Finalists! #MOTY

Back in June I told you about Walmart honoring Canadian moms with a fabulous Mom of the Year award, the results are in and the 8 Finalist have been chosen. I want to say Congratulations to all of the wonderful moms that made it into the finals along with all moms who entered! You are all Mom of the Year!

Head over to MomOfTheYear.ca to read all about the 8 wonderful moms that were chosen. After reading the amazing mom stories, Eileen Thiessen story really stood out to me. I am a development social worker for the last 12 almost 13 years. I work with individuals with developmental disabilities in all ranges. I have also dreamed of foster children with disabilities one day. When I hear about individuals who open their hearts and homes to people with disabilities I get such a wonderful warm feeling. They too need a caring home and family.

Eileen Thiessen's donation of at least $10,000 will be donated to the Special Olympics of Manitoba. Eileen was a foster parent for 46 years, most of the children had disabilities and are now adults. Eileen and her husband purchased a house down the street from the family home to house her children and staff the house. She visits daily to help feed the two girls and has been coaching the Special Olympics for the past 15 years!
